Cookie’s chocolate chip cookies

My mother-in-law a.k.a Cookie; nicknamed by some good friends, is a wonderful cook who is a tasmanian devil in the kitchen boasting she can cook a pie in 7 minutes (not including baking time)… AND she can! Her Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is the best and always gets rave reviews. And seriously… at parties, family gatherings, picnics, every.single.time.every.single.cookie.totally.dissappears.

Ingredients

1 lb (4 sticks) of softened butter – she swears “Land of Lakes” is best

2 eggs

2 T molasses

2 t vanilla

1/3 cup water

1 1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 packed brown sugar

1 t baking powder

1 1/2 t baking soda

1 t salt

5 cups all purpose flour

12 oz package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps

1/ Cream butter, eggs, molasses, vanilla, and h20 in a big bowl

2/ Sift together the sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour in a medium size bowl

3/ Combine the moist mixture and the dry mixture

4/ Add the chocolate chips

5/ Shape the dough in 1″ balls and place 1″ a part on an ungreased cookie sheet

6/ Bake at 350 for 8 min or until light brown around edges— the gooey-er the better with these!

My extra step

7/ Once out of the oven sprinkle/grind a little sea salt on top

The recipe makes a lot of cookies! I usually end up freezing some of them. In the summer we make ice cream sandwiches out of them…(is your mouth watering yet?) They also crumble easily when stored in ziplocks and tupperware so make sure to use the crumbs on top of ice cream or another favorite dessert— delish! ENJOY!
