I took part in a little snail mail exchange project last month called Elevated Envelope. Here’s a little peak into what I sent out to my pen pals— watercolored papers, cut out shapes, and fun little quotes all wrapped up in a pretty watercolored envelope and washi tape.

Telling love stories through design is truly my favorite thing… whether that’s committing love or creating another love. Nailing those stories to the wall create moments of blessings and gratefulness within our homes and our lives… and well… I love that!

Pallet Day Bed {DIY}

I’m constantly working on my backyard; new furniture, pillows, lighting, and flowers… and this past weekend I’ve finally added the last piece (at least for now!) I saw a version of this idea on Pinterest and since I’ve been scouring the internet and catalogs for loungers in my price range and coming up empty handed, it seemed like the perfect time to get my sewing machine out, which I immediately handed over to my mom (me and that machine just don’t get along) and put on my thinking cap as to how I could do it inexpensively.

Here’s what we did…

1. We got pallets; I can’t tell you how we did it, but I’ve heard you can call up some companies and they’ll sell them to you for a few bucks.

2. I went to Ikea and found a cheap futon mattress, which worked perfectly for the size of our pallets.

3. I bought a sheet set at Target. We cut down the sheets to fit our mattress and sewed them together to make a cover for the mattress.

4. I got some fabric and made the long pillows by sewing them down the middle, stuffing them, and tying them off with ribbon.

5. The hubs got the caster wheels and 2×4′s. He attached the 2×4′s to the bottom of the pallets so they wouldn’t move and then added the castor wheels so we can move the bed around for our summer backyard movie nights.

6. I added additional pillows I already had, grabbed a cold brew, and took a little nap.

I love rainy days… Rainy days make me miss running off to the mall, grabbing lunch at the food court, and possibly catching a matinee movie with my mom. Oh to be 13 again…Instead, today, I slept in and am working from bed with a cup of hot coffee, wrapped up in a warm scarf, while cranking away on the finishing touches of the new collection.

Happy Friday! I’m hoping this rain hits the road this weekend so I can wear my newly purchased bright purple pants in the sunshine!

S+C Custom Bridal Suite

Steff and Cody are getting married in Indiana in June. It was so fun to work with them to create a simple invitation with bold pops of what I call “Indiana summer green.”

Using bright white, a bit of charcoal gray, pops of “Indiana summer green,” and a little kraft brown in their bridal suite, Steff and Cody have the beginnings of their simplistic wedding which will have hints of burlap and hydrangeas.

Congratulations Steff and Cody! Enjoy every moment of your day!

Healthy Lunch

I found this recipe on Pinterest and tried it out at a BBQ with friends and it was gone in moments! Since then I’ve been making it (almost) weekly to have around for lunches. It’s soooo easy and soooo good! I’m still mastering how to cook quinoa. It seems like I either don’t cook it long enough or I cook it too long and its mushy. You can find the recipe here.
