Not only for couples but for making friends, family, room mates, clients and other loved ones in your life feel special and loved.

This year, instead of mailing out the normal Valentine’s card, I put together a little specialty Valentine’s Day kit filled with lots of love, sparkle, gift tags, notecards, and lip and mustache props for some unsuspecting friends and clients. Check out yesterday’s DIY to see how I created some of these pieces at home with items I found in drawers and closets.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Celebrate love today.

xoxo.

Yesterday, as I realized Valentine’s Day was VERY quickly approaching and I had yet to do ANYTHING Valentine related for ANYONE… I pulled out everything red, pink, white, and paper related in my craft closet and food pantry and just went for it…

Have you made a potato stamp? So easy!

1.) Wash potato and cut in half.

2.) Draw your shape.

3) Cut around your shape until its about a quarter inch deep or until your shape is well defined and sticking up from the rest of the potato.

4.) Dip the potato in paint or an ink pad and press against paper.

I also created little color-dipped tags with a little puffy paint I found in the kitchen junk drawer.

1) Draw shape and cut out tags from cardstock.

2) Mix puffy paint with water in a shallow bowl until you get the color you want.

3) Dip paper and lay flat to dry.

Check back tomorrow to see the Valentine’s mailer I created by using a little imagination and some DIY; sprinkled with love love love!

I’m not sure where I heard it or where I saw it, but for the past week its been stuck in my brain. AND I’m inspired. I have a lot of fears, I worry a lot and honestly sometimes that holds me back from being me and keeps me from achieving my dreams. And there it is… “Opening up on my blog”— my one scary thing for the day!

Its something I want to remember. I’m not necessarily going to do the cliff jumping, extreme fear, sorta stuff everyday, but I want to apply it to the everyday little things like not being afraid to open up more, write an email to that person I’ve been meaning to connect with, put myself out there in the wedding industry, dance in front of strangers, wear leopard print, and fix sushi at home.

And then, yes, there’s always the bigger things like getting a tattoo, learning to surf, and cliff jumping…

Ingredients

1 lb (4 sticks) of softened butter – she swears “Land of Lakes” is best

2 eggs

2 T molasses

2 t vanilla

1/3 cup water

1 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Steps

1/ Cream butter, eggs, molasses, vanilla, and h20 in a big bowl

2/ Sift together the sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour in a medium size bowl

3/ Combine the moist mixture and the dry mixture

4/ Add the chocolate chips

5/ Shape the dough in 1″ balls and place 1″ a part on an ungreased cookie sheet

6/ Bake at 350 for 8 min or until light brown around edges— the gooey-er the better with these!

My extra step

7/ Once out of the oven sprinkle/grind a little sea salt on top

The recipe makes a lot of cookies! I usually end up freezing some of them. In the summer we make ice cream sandwiches out of them…(is your mouth watering yet?) They also crumble easily when stored in ziplocks and tupperware so make sure to use the crumbs on top of ice cream or another favorite dessert— delish! ENJOY!
